The Research and Community Engagement Vice Presidents’ Forum deliberated on the newly issued Higher Education, TVT, Research Institution and Industry Linkage (HETRIIL) Proclamation, and the draft guidelines on Research Implementation and Administration and Community Engagement on December 22 and 23, 2023 at Bonga University.
On the Forum presentations were made on HETRIIL Proclamation and two draft guidelines (one on Research Implementation and Administration and the other on Community Engagement).
Four selected universities (three public and one private) shared their research and community engagement experiences with the participants. These institutions were Bonga University, Adama Science and Technology University, and Arba Minch University from the public sector and St. Mary’s University from the private sector.
All the presentations made by the public institutions showcased their achievements in research and community engagement in the areas of natural sciences by and large in Agriculture. Very encouraging results of research and community engagement activities were shared.
Representing SMU, the Research and International Relations Vice President presented SMU’s experience in research and community engagement. SMU’s unparalleled contributions in research (five annual events) and publications (from KG – HE) and its various efforts related to community engagement were presented. Participants were all ears and appreciated SMU’s “unexpectedly impressive and outstanding performance”
