Since its establishment, St. Mary’s University has created scholarship opportunities to the disadvantaged section of the society. Of the beneficiaries, young women and prisoners take the lead in large numbers. They have used a significant portion of the free scholarships that have been announced on annual basis. Due to the increasing number of applications and the limited financial resources we have, the scholarship opportunities are getting highly competitive; but still the academically bright but disadvantaged students will have a greater chance of securing the scholarship. The University has a policy put in place – No admitted student shall discontinue his/her education just because of financial constraint. To this end, the University has established a Social Support Forum which provides financial support to students who are challenged to cover their tuition fees due to unforeseen incidents. Through this scheme, many students who were about to stop their education because of lack of access to finance to cover their tuition fees received support from the Forum and continued their education and graduated.
