The Vice President for Research and International Relations is entrusted with the University-wide research, partnership, communication, promotion and linkages. The VPRIR shall be an academic staff member of a department that offers courses pertinent to his/her qualification. The VPRIR is entrusted with the following major duties and responsibilities:

  • oversee and provide visionary, strategic leadership for the Office of Vice President for Research and International Relations;
  • work closely and collaborate with academic colleges/schools/institutes/faculties/ departments to support the research endeavors at different levels;
  • coordinate, organize and facilitate University-wide research activities;
  • initiate national and international affairs related to research;
  • work toward the promotion of research, partnership, and linkages;
  • plan and implement approved plans on research, local and international relations and community development;
  • implement University policies and activities on research, partnership, linkages and community development;
  • tap resources for the promotion of research, partnership, linkages and community development;
  • supervise and coordinate the preparation of the research journals, proceedings, newsletter and other required reports;
  • initiate/establish linkages with government and non-government agencies on research, partnership, linkages and community development;
  • maintain and expand strategic partnerships;
  • serve as the major officer to promote the products/services of the University;
  • promote existing local and international links using the University and other available communication channels;
  • document the various events and profiles of the University using a variety of media and ensure that the history of the University is well-documented;
  • implement the strategic plan on research, partnership and internationalization as it affects staff and students with various faculties, departments and operational units of the University; and
  •  Perform other functions as may be delegated by the University President.
